Week 2— Tuesday 14th March Occupants of the Hive, their Life Cycle and Functions
Week 3—Tuesday 20th March Beekeeping Equipment and Clothing, Beekeeping Terms
Week 4—Tuesday 27th March Spring Management, Bee Flora
Week 5—Tuesday 3rd April Hive Types and Assembly of Frames, Honey Sections, and hives
Week 6—Tuesday 10th April Summer Management, Swarms & Swarming
Week 7—Tuesday 17th April Bee Health & Hygienic Beekeeping, Diseases and Pests
Week 8—Tuesday 24th April Honey Removal, Extraction and Processing, Summary of Course with Q & A
Summer 2018 Outdoor demonstrations at our assoc. apiaries with hands-on experience to be held throughout the summer season.
Classes will be Held in Naas Community Library (Upstairs), The Harbour, Naas, Co Kildare.
7:45pm to 9:15pm each night
Each Talk will be followed by a discussion time with questions & answers. Outdoor demonstrations will also be held as part of the course in May, June, July and August.
This course is included in the membership fee for North Kildare beekeepers as below Membership for 2018 € 35 Membership includes: Insurance, IBAclg Affiliation, Monthly eMagazine, Beekeeping Course,
Monthly Talks and Outdoor Demonstrations. Membership must be paid in full before attending Week 2.

An Introduction to the fascinating craft of beekeeping with lectures, demonstrations and hands-on experience with honeybeesIf you would like to pre-register for our 2018 beginners course please complete your details here
Our Beginners Course for 2018 will be held in Athy and runs from February through to April with lectures.

The course will continue when the weather is suitable at the Association Apiary where beginners will get some hands on experience with bees under the watchful eyes of experienced beekeepers.
During August we hold extraction night - where the clubs beehives are harvested for honey and beginners are invited to take part
Beginners under 16yrs must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times (lectures and workshops).
Typically our beginners course costs €60 and includes membership to SKBA for 1 year - further details , dates etc, will be updated on our facebook and website - check back for updates
Anyone that expresses an interest in the beginners course will be emailed early in 2018 with more details as the course finalizes.

Beginners Course hosted by carberry and South West Cork Beekeepers
A beginners course on beekeeping which is jointly hosted by Carbery and South West Cork Beekeepers associations will be held in Rosscarbery on Feb 22 & March 1st , 8th and 15th at 8pm with 2 further practical sessions to take place in April.
Cost for the course is €60 which includes insurance and association membership.

Beekeeping for Beginners
This beginners course is designed for new beekeepers or those who are planning to start beekeeping. The course is designed and presented by beekeepers of the Beaufort Beekeepers Association in a practical and fun way (showing video clips and practical tasks (e.g. assembling a frame, quizzes etc.), so that you learn the basics about bees and beekeeping:
Session 1: Introduction
- Reasons for beekeeping
- Choosing a hive location
- Getting bees
- Hive types
- Equipment and tools
Session 2: The Bees World
- Biology of bees and different types of bees
- Lifecycle of honeybees
- Bee Communication
- Honey tasting
Session 3: The Beekeepers Year
- Managing Bees
- Hive inspection
- Tasks in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter
- Diseases and Medicines
Session 4: In the Apiary
- With the trainers we will open several hives and carry out inspections.
Location: Beaufort Bar
Dates: February 5th, March 5th, April 9th and an Apiary day in May TBC.
Time: 8-10pm
